Rate My Profile Picture

Your profile picture is the first thing people see on Instagram, WhatsApp, Discord, X or anywhere else you have an account, and it shows at thumbnail size. Photo Rater shows your pfp to real people who don't know you and tells you how it scores and what impression it gives.

Why ask strangers instead of friends

Friends know what you look like and are kind about it. The people who see your profile picture mostly are neither. Ratings on Photo Rater are anonymous in both directions, so raters have no reason to be polite, and you see what a stranger sees in the second they look.

What you get back

Every photo gets an average score out of 5 from the members who rated it, plus the impression words they chose, like smiling, confident, friendly or messy, and any comments they left. Upload a few candidates and the strongest one is obvious.

How it works

  1. Upload the profile pictures you are choosing between.
  2. Rate other members' photos to earn tokens that keep yours in the queue.
  3. Watch ratings and impression words come in, then use the winner everywhere.

Tips before you upload

  • Crop tight. A profile picture is shown small, so your face should fill most of the frame.
  • Pick a plain or blurred background that contrasts with your hair and clothes.
  • Look at the camera. Eye contact reads as open and confident at any size.
  • Avoid heavy filters. People notice, and it reads as hiding something.
  • Use the same strong photo across your accounts so people recognise you.

Questions

Is it free to get my profile picture rated?

Yes. The core rating service is free. You earn the tokens that keep your photos in the rating queue by rating other members' photos.

Who rates my profile picture?

Other Photo Rater members. You can choose whether men, women or both rate it and set an age range. Ratings are anonymous both ways.

Can I delete my photo after it's rated?

Yes. Deleting a photo permanently removes it and all of its ratings.
